Mexican Masters Gallery

Those who love Mexican folk art, colonial relics, old cowboy collectibles or Taxco sterling won't want to miss a visit to the new Mexican Masters gallery in nearby Rutersville. Nestled inside a 1935 former mercantile, the ivy cover brick building is packed with color and curiosities. A large hand carved wooden statue of San Isidrio, the patron saint of farmers, keeps watch over a pair of oil paintings of the Virgin of Guadalupe across the room. Decorated dance masks peep through the window which separates the gallery from the main house. Two large vintage showcases are stuffed with shining silver and interesting trinkets of all kind. An unusually large chess set has whimsical Mexican figures which look like two different hacienda households. Mexican Masters Gallery is situated on Highway 159, half way between Warrenton and La Grange, in the tiny village of Rutersville. Their address is 6231 Hwy 159, Rutersville, Texas. Open by appointment during the shows: 979-250-1494.
